Bangladesh reports four more suspected measles deaths, 135 new cases

Another 870 people with symptoms seek hospital care

Bangladesh has recorded four more deaths with measles symptoms in a 24-hour count.

Of those, two were detected in Dhaka Division, while 135 new infections were confirmed, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.

The new cases were recorded in the 24 hours to 8am Thursday.

The official death toll from confirmed measles has reached 96, while 739 people have died with symptoms of the disease nationwide.

Dhaka Division has recorded the highest number of suspected measles deaths at 322, followed by Sylhet with 108.

During the reporting period, 870 people with suspected measles visited hospitals across the country, with 816 admitted.

Hospital admissions have risen to 110,182 nationwide. Of them, 106,053 have been discharged.

Bangladesh has so far recorded 127,410 suspected measles cases, including 15,874 confirmed infections since Mar 15.
