At least two more children with measles symptoms have died in Sylhet.
Mohammad Nur-e-Alam Shamim, assistant director of the Sylhet Directorate General of Health Services, said that they passed away at MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital and Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital between Monday morning and Tuesday morning.
The deceased 7-month-old Nusiba was the daughter of Hossain Mia of Nabiganj Upazila in Habiganj. She died at MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.
The other child, 2-year-two-month-old Rafsa, who died at Shaheed Shamsuddin Ahmed Hospital, was the daughter of Ujaser Ahmed of Kanaighat Upazila in Sylhet.
According to the Sylhet health department's measles situation report, as of Tuesday morning, 273 patients with measles symptoms were undergoing treatment at hospitals across the division.
Another 51 suspected measles patients were admitted to different hospitals over the last 24 hours.
Since Jan 1 this year, laboratory tests have confirmed measles infection in 545 people.
So far, a total of 101 people with symptoms have died in Sylhet, while four deaths have been confirmed as caused by measles through laboratory diagnosis, the report said.
