Authorities have demolished illegal structures around Gulshan Lake in Dhaka through a joint operation led by the capital development authority and the environment department.
Environment Advisor Syeda Rizwana Hasan directed the operation on Tuesday, the ministry said in a statement.
It said that illegal structures, nurseries, tin-shed rooms, and bamboo and nets set up in the lake to occupy it were removed, and the ecologically critical Gulshan-Baridhara Lake was freed from encroachment.
The operation was led by the Rajdhani Unnayan Kartripakkha, or RAJUK, executive magistrate Md Kamruzzaman.
The environment department said such anti-pollution drives would continue.
