West Bengal actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee has drowned at Talsari beach near Digha during shooting of television series, reports the Indian Express.

Rahul, 42, entered the water alone while his co-star Shweta Mishra remained on the shore on Sunday, the report added.

His feet reportedly got stuck in sand under the water when a strong wave hit him, causing him to lose balance.

Shweta alerted the crew, and he was rescued from the water while still alive, the Indian Express said.

He was taken to Digha Sub-divisional Hospital, where doctors declared him dead at 6:10pm.

He was shooting for the TV series “Bhole Baba Par Karega”.

Apart from acting, Rahul was also known for his podcast “Sohoj Kotha”.
