25,500 students absent on first day of SSC exams, 6 expelled

Around 11,089 candidates skip the exam across nine general education boards

As many as 25,408 students have been reported absent on the first day of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and equivalent examinations.

Among them, 11,089 candidates skipped the exam across nine general education boards.

Moreover, 11,211 students did not appear from the Dakhil examination held under the Madrasah Education Board, alongside 2,307 absentees from the Technical Education Board’s vocational stream.

The SSC and equivalent examinations were held simultaneously across 3,885 centres nationwide from 10am to 1pm on Tuesday.

SSC candidates under the nine general education boards took their Bangla First Paper examination on the first day.

The Quran Majeed and Tajweed examination for Dakhil and the Bangla-2 test for SSC and Dakhil Vocational students were conducted on the same day.

The Inter-Education Board Coordination Committee later released the data over the absent students.

Despite strict measures in exam management and CCTV surveillance, six students were expelled across the country for cheating and adopting unfair means on the first day.

Among them, two were SSC candidates from the general education boards and four were Dakhil candidates.

An invigilator (teacher) from the Technical Education Board was also expelled for failing to perform their duties appropriately.
