Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith has proposed a rise in value added tax (VAT) at the trader-level for super shops by 2 percentage points.

In his budget speech on Thursday, the minister said: “Super shops will pay VAT at 4 percent instead of 2 percent at the trader-level.”
Muhith placed the proposed budget in Parliament projecting a 7 percent GDP growth.
He has given emphasis on rise in revenue collection.
