The Dhaka Stock Exchange, or DSE, has posted job advertisements to fill three key positions, including managing director, as part of efforts to address a long-standing leadership crisis.

The other two positions are chief operating officer and chief technology officer.

All three posts are currently being handled on an interim basis.

The recruitment notices, published on the DSE website and in the media on Wednesday, detail the qualifications and the application deadline.

The term for each appointment will be for a maximum of three years.

The managing director’s post has been vacant since May, while the COO’s position has been empty since January. The CTO role has remained unfilled for over two years.

ATM Tariquzzaman, the last managing director, resigned in May to join the Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission, or SEC, as a commissioner.

However, following a change in government after the fall of Sheikh Hasina administration on Aug 5, the leadership of regulatory bodies, including SEC, underwent a shake-up.

The government terminated Tariquzzaman’s contractual appointment as an SEC commissioner on Sept 11, following the appointment of Khondoker Rashed Maqsood as the new SEC chairman.

The COO position has been vacant since January, following the resignation of Saifur Rahman Majumdar, who is now the managing director of the Chattogram Stock Exchange.

The CTO role has been empty since October 2022, when Ziaul Karim was sent on mandatory leave due to server disruptions that disrupted trading.

Although an SEC-led investigation committee submitted its report, DSE has not reinstated Karim.

Interested candidates can submit applications online until 6pm on Dec 26, 2024.

DSE will also hold an online Q&A session on Dec 4 at 6pm, where its board members will address applicants’ queries about the roles.

DSE’s board underwent a reshuffle after the government changed. Independent directors appointed during the previous administration were replaced on Oct 3, with Mominul Islam now serving as the board chairman.
