Bangladesh will play against England, South Africa, New Zealand and Sri Lanka in Group B at the 2027 ODI World Cup.

The International Cricket Council finalised the groups for the tournament on Thursday, with one more team to join Bangladesh’s group after the qualifying competition.

Group A, meanwhile, brings cricket’s fiercest rivalry into the same pool, with India and Pakistan set to face each other alongside Australia, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe.

Another qualifier will complete that group.

South Africa and Zimbabwe qualified directly as co-hosts, while the other top eight teams in the rankings also secured automatic places.

Namibia, the third host, will have to go through the qualifiers as it is not an ICC Full Member.

The winner of the 10-team qualifying tournament will earn a direct place in the World Cup group stage. Another team will qualify through a new-look “Super Series”.

The World Cup has been expanded from 10 to 14 teams, but not all of the sides in the qualifying race will make it into the main tournament.

Under the new format, the teams finishing 12th, 13th and 14th will be decided through the Super Series, involving the sides finishing second, third and fourth in the qualifiers.

Two teams will be eliminated from the Super Series, with the winner advancing to the group stage.

The 12 teams in the group stage will be split into two groups, with each side playing five matches.

The top three from each group, along with the next-best team across the two groups, will advance to a “Super Seven” stage.
