Gladiators sign Alfonso Thomas

Defending Bangladesh Premier League champions Dhaka Gladiators have signed up South African pacer Alfonso Thomas.

The 35-year old has replaced Gladiators’ another foreign recruit Sri Lankan Lasith Malinga.

The Gladiators acquired Thomas for the base price of $75,000 and will join the squad once he completes his service for Big Bash side Perth Scorchers.

Malinga was bought by the Gladiators from the BPL players’ auction held in December 2012. But the pacer sustained a small injury and was advised to go into rest for at least two weeks.

Australian pacer Bret Lee was also under consideration by the Gladiators but his commitment with Channel 9 (Australia) denied him to join for the season.
