A Chinese delegation comprising representatives from leading universities and research institutions visited University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh to explore opportunities for academic collaboration, research partnerships and international engagement.
The 11-member delegation included prominent scholars and officials from Tongji University, the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies (SIIS), Yunnan University, the Confucius Institute at the University of Dhaka, and the Centre for China Studies (CCS).
During the visit on May 9, the delegates toured the ULAB campus and attended a cultural programme organised by ULAB Shangskriti Shangshad, the university said in a media statement.
A formal meeting was later held at the university’s board room, attended by Registrar Shamsad Mortuza, deans, heads of departments and members of the Chinese delegation.
The delegation included Chen Dongxiao, president of the Shanghai Institutes for International Studies and chairman of the CCS Academic Board, and Liu Zongyi, senior research fellow and director of South Asia Studies, along with nine other representatives.
In a presentation during the meeting, the ULAB vice-chancellor highlighted the university’s history, achievements and vision of becoming an AI-integrated, technology-driven institution.
Discussions focused on joint research, academic cooperation and faculty-student exchange programmes.
According to the university, the Chinese delegation expressed strong interest in long-term cooperation through collaborative research, academic programmes and exchange initiatives.
The visit concluded with both sides expressing optimism about strengthening academic and cultural ties between ULAB and China.
