State-run mobile phone operator Teletalk has launched the high speed 3G modem on the first day of 2013.

Teletalk Managing Director Mujibur Rahman introduced the device, 'Flash' for faster internet connections, at a city hotel on Tuesday.

"The modem will meet all the needs of internet users," he said.

The 'plug and play' device including a Teletalk SIM card will cost Tk 2,500.

Teletalk General Manager (Marketing) Habibur Rahman said the pre-paid and post-paid modem user will get 10 and 12 gigabytes for free with each connection.

Teletalk launched 3G technology only in Dhaka on experimental basis on October.

Rahman said the Teletalk users in Chittagong and Sylhet would be able to use the technology from February.

Bangladesh has 30 million Internet users, according to telecom regulator Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).
