BRAC Bank has appointed Tareq Refat Ullah Khan as its managing director and chief executive officer.

The appointment will be effective on Tuesday, according to a media statement issued by the bank.

Tareq had been serving as MD and CEO on current charge since May 27 after being promoted to additional managing director and head of corporate and institutional banking in April.

He joined BRAC Bank in 2017 as head of credit risk management, following nearly three decades in senior roles at IFIC Bank, AB Bank and Eastern Bank Limited.

“Tareq is the right leader to take BRAC Bank into its next phase,” said Chairperson Meheriar M Hasan.

“His vision, integrity, and leadership will make the bank more trusted, innovative, and inclusive – positively impacting customers, the banking industry, society, and the state,” the chairperson added.

His appointment will reinforce the bank’s position as a trusted and progressive financial institution, said the statement.
