The Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has once again reduced the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for consumers.
The price of a 12kg cylinder has been lowered by Tk 91 to Tk 1,273 for the month of August.
The new rate will take effect from 6pm on Sunday.
In a notification, the commission said that in July, the price of a 12kg cylinder had been reduced by Tk 39 to Tk 1,364.
The latest cut marks a further decrease of Tk 91 from that level.
The commission has also announced a reduction in the price of autogas for August.
Including VAT, the new price has been set at Tk 58.28 per litre, down by Tk 4.18.
On Jul 2, the price was Tk 62.46 per litre, which was previously lowered by Tk 1.84.
So far in 2024, prices of LPG and autogas have been cut four times and raised seven times. On one occasion, the rate remained unchanged.
According to the commission, the contract prices of propane and butane set by Saudi Aramco for August have been set at $520 and $490 per tonne, respectively.
The revised price was determined using an average of $500.50, based on a propane-to-butane ratio of 35 to 65.
