Salman F Rahman has now lost his board positions at all three of Beximco Group’s major listed companies, marking a sweeping change in the leadership of the business empire he helped build.
The former advisor to ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina and the Beximco vice-chairman was first removed from the board of Beximco Pharmaceuticals.
He has now also been dropped from the boards of Beximco Ltd, or Bangladesh Export Import Company, and Shinepukur Ceramics.
His elder brother, Sohail Fasiur Rahman, will continue as chairman of both companies.
Salman served as vice chairman of all three listed companies.
The Bangladesh Securities and Exchange Commission (BSEC) approved the reconstituted boards of Beximco Ltd and Shinepukur Ceramics at its meeting on Wednesday, according to a commission media statement.
BSEC Chairman Masud Khan presided over the meeting.
Explaining the decision, the regulator said: “The decision was taken after considering the interests of investors and all other relevant matters.”
Salman, who was arrested after the fall of the Awami League government in August 2024, has been in custody.
