Government recalls East Baker bread, two other food products from market

Bangladesh Food Safety Authority says these food items contain “excessive preservatives”

The Bangladesh Food Safety Authority (BFSA) has asked three companies to withdraw as many food products including “East Baker Slice Bread Milk Jam Filled (Intact)” from the market due to "excessive preservatives".

Issuing a public notification on Thursday, the BSFA also ordered the companies to stop marketing the food products.

The government agency has also advised everyone to refrain from purchasing or consuming the food items.

East Zibai International Food Limited produces the “East Baker” bread, a common item in Dhaka’s tea stalls.

The rest items facing the action are "East Cake Pur Pitha Jam Filled (Intact)", manufactured by East Cake International Food Ltd, and "Arboting Food Slice Bread Mix Jam Filled (Intact)", produced by Arboting Food Co Ltd.
