Dhaka, Feb 10 (bdnews24.com)-- Another former army Signals officer will head Bangladesh's telecom regulatory agency, replacing retired major general Manzurul Alam, who resigned Tuesday.
Retired brigadier general Zia Ahmed is set to take charge at the Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission as chairman, highly-placed government sources said Tuesday night.
The sources told bdnews24.com that the appointment procedure would take "a couple of days" and that Zia Ahmed could well be at his BTRC desk by early next week.
The regulators of Bangladesh's multi-billion dollar telecoms market have been heavily criticised recently for allegedly doling out 'undue favours' while dealing with licencing process.
