Her lungs had not been functioning fully for months, said her daughter Dr Simin Akhter, but on Wednesday “her kidney stopped, lungs and heart were on machine”.
She passed away at 7:30 Thursday morning, eldest son Ishtiaq Majid said.
Her namaz e janaza will he held on Thursday afternoon at the Banani DOHS mosque after Asr prayers, Ishtiaq Majid told bdnews24.com.
She left behind husband Majid ul Haque, a retired major general from the 1960s who then served as a Cabinet Minister for agriculture, establishment, water resources in the 1970s and again 1990s, her two sons and a daughter.
A favourite teacher for her numerous students and an amiable person for friends and family, Zebunissa Majid will be mourned by dozens of relatives many of whom rushed to her Banani DOHS home in the morning.
