“We have decided to close the university sine die, as BBA and Medical students fought each other,” the private university’s Pro Vice Chancellor AHM Ishaque Chowdhury told bdnews24.com.
According to police and the students, BBA students beat up a student of the Bangabandhu Memorial Hospital, another department of the same university on Tuesday.
The medical students retaliated by thrashing a BBA student around 11:30am on Wednesday.

Tension gripped the campus, as the two groups prepared for a showdown.
Chittagong’s Panchlaish Zone’s Assistant Commission Abdur Rouf said they had met the university authorities in connection with the trouble. The closure followed the meeting.
He said police presence on the campus had been strengthened to maintain order.
The USTC was established in 1992. About 4,000 students are currently enrolled in the university’s five faculties.
Late National Professor Nurul Islam was the last Vice-Chancellor and also founder of the institution.
