Ali, tried in absentia, has been indicted for killing 24 and for abduction and torture of 12 persons at Kishoreganj during Bangladesh’s Liberation War in 1971.
He is also charged with setting fire and looting 125 households.
The International Crimes Tribunal -1 Chairman Justice M Enayetur Rahim started to read out the 125-page verdict around 11:15am.
The two other judges of the tribunal Justice Jahangir Hossain and Justice Anwarul Haque are also present.
The judges came at the court room around 11am, but the state-appointed defence counsel Shukur Khan was not present.
The court asked the prosecution on whereabouts of the defence counsel, when the prosecution informed that he was ‘on the way’.
Later the tribunal chief started delivering the verdict in absence of the defence counsel.
