Ismail Hossain Nirob was discovered at around 8:25pm on Tuesday, capping off more than four hours of a frantic search operation.
Fire Service Deputy Director Mozammel Haque told bdnews24.com the lifeless body of Ismail Hossain Nirob was found stuck at the Burhiganga end of the drain near Dhaka-Narayanganj Highway on Tuesday evening.
He said diver 'Alauddin' found the child stuck in a net at the end of the drain.
Dhaka Medical College Hospital's Emergency Ward physician Dr Dalia Begum declared him dead at around 9pm, Inspector Mozammel Haque at the police camp there told bdnews24.com.
Kadamtali Police Station OC Kazi Wazed Ali said Nirob was found at Sena Kalyan Pier of the river beside Shyampur Bazar, some two kilometres away from the place where he had fallen.
He fell into the drain of industrial waste at Palparha in Shyampur at around 4pm.
Fire Service control room official Brajen Kumar Sarker said they had failed to trace him in the liquid waste flowing through the drain next to a house.

Quoting a college student, she alleged another child 'Ratul' had pushed Nirob into the drain.
Nirob's father Rezaul Karim works at a factory at Gausia in Rupganj.
He rushed to Kadamtali hearing the news.
Mother Nazma said they had been planning to send Nirob to a school in their village in Madaripur.
