Child in Kadamtali drain; rescue on

Kadamtali Police Station OC Kazi Wazed Ali said Ismail Hossain Nirob fell into the drain of industrial waste at Palparha in Shyampur at around 4pm on Tuesday.

Fire Service control room official Brajen Kumar Sarker said at 7pm that divers were still looking for the child.

But so far they had failed to trace him in the liquid waste flowing through the drain next to a house.

Nirob's mother Nazma Begum told reporters Nirob had ended up in the drain while playing.

Quoting a child, she alleged another child 'Ratul' had pushed Nirob into the drain.

On Dec 26 last year, four-year-old child 'Jihad' fell into a pipe several hundred feet deep in Dhaka's Shahjahanpur.

Locals rescued Jihad after nearly a whole day's effort but doctors declared him dead, saying he had died several hours before being pulled out.
