Sharfuddin Ahmed appointed new pro-vice chancellor of BSMMU

Professor of ophthalmology Dr Sharfuddin Ahmed has been appointed as a pro-vice-chancellor (administration) of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University.

Chancellor of the university, President Md Abdul Hamid, ordered the appointment on Sunday, the university said on Monday, when he took charge.

  

Prof Ahmed, hailing from Gopalganj, was the former secretary general of the national doctors’ body, Bangladesh Medical Association.

  

He was the dean of the university’s Faculty of Preventive and Social Medicine, and chairman of the Department of Community Ophthalmology.
