Joypurhat RAB camp commander Major Abdur Rahim said twelve pounds of cobra venom was recovered during the raid at Khetlaal Upazila.
The estimated market value of the venom is around Tk 680 million, he said.
"The cobra venom was kept at one Faruq Hossain's home at Baghoparha village and was meant to be smuggled out of the country. The house was raided on a tip-off and five were arrested," said the RAB officer.
Those arrested were Mozammel Haque, Enamul Haque, Shohag Hossain, Motleb Hossain and Morshed Ali.
