Police have recovered the body of a Santal woman from a cornfield in Dinajpur's Birol Upazila.

The dead was identified as Sumitra Maddi. She went missing on Thursday, according to her family.
The body was found in Jagatpur village under the Upazila's Ranipukur Union on Friday, said Birol Police OC Golam Rasul.
Citing her family members' accounts, the OC said, "Sumitra had left her home with her 4-year-old child to pick spinach from the fields. Her son later returned home but there was no sign of Sumitra.
Locals later found Sumitra's lying in a cornfield and informed the police, said OC Golam.
"The deceased was wearing a sari. Our initial suspicion is that she was strangled to death.
The body has been sent to Dinajpur's M Abdur Rahim Medical College Hospital's morgue for a post-mortem.
