Six more people arrested over the looting and demolition of the Radda MCH office and health centre in Mirpur-1 have been sent to jail.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nazmin Akter passed the order on Sunday following a plea from the investigating officer, said Lutfur Rahman, a sub-inspector of the prosecution department.
Those sent to jail are Shahadat Hossain, Kazi Mokbul Hossain, Shah Alam, Atikur Rahman, Kamrul Islam and Shakil, identified by a single name.
Shah Ali Police Station SI and investigating officer Atowar Rahman produced the suspects in court and sought their detention.
Defence lawyer Muhammad Emran sought bail and requested a hearing on Monday.
The court sent them to jail and set Monday for the bail hearing.
On Saturday, four others -- Sohel, 22, Jewel, 23, Jihad, 21, and Rabbi, 20, all identified by single names -- were sent to jail.
Radda MCH-FP Centre, a private healthcare provider in Mirpur-1, says it has provided free primary, maternity and family-planning services to poor and vulnerable mothers and children for 50 years in partnership with the government.
Around Thursday midnight, heavy machinery was used to demolish the entire facility, including one permanent and three semi-permanent buildings.
Attackers then put up a signboard reading “Sommanona Dokandar Samity Limited” in front of the property.
Radda alleged that office equipment and large quantities of vaccination supplies were looted.
Its Executive Director Nasrin Akter filed a case against 200-250 people, including local BNP leader Hanif Mia.
According to the case, attackers beat and tied up two night guards before damaging buildings, equipment and doors and windows.
They allegedly took medicines, supplies, an ultrasound machine, generator, computers, printer, refrigerators, air conditioners and steel cabinets, and left cooperative banners and signboards after threatening the guards.
