Bagbari village in Gabtoli Upazilla of Bogra district is where Ziaur Rahman hails from.

His uncle Ahsanul Huq Talukdar told bdnews24.com on Wednesday that every year, they go for Qurbani.

"But this year, we have not done it," he said, without explaining why.

But BNP officials say they have done Qurbani for the party's Chairperson Khaleda Zia and her son Tarique Rahman, who is the party's Senior Vice-President.

Bogra BNP President Saiful Islam has sacrificed a cow for the two leaders, said the party's Bogra Office Secretary Mahfuzur Rahman. But he said no other Qurbani has taken place in their name.
But Khaleda Zia's Press Secretary Maruf Kamal Khan told bdnews24.com that one cow was sacrificed in Khaleda Zia's Gulshan residence on the occasion of the Eid-ul-Azha.
Eid-ul-Azha, translating to the 'festival of sacrifice' – one of the most auspicious festivals in the Islamic calendar – is popularly known as Qurbani Eid in Bangladesh.
