Dhaka, Sept 15 (BDNEWS) – The Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Motijheel thana, Rafiqul Islam, was closed Thursday for his alleged link with the brutal killing of Kamrul Islam Momin, a third year student of Mirpur Commerce College.
"As per the primary investigation into the murder case, the DMP Commissioner has directed to close him (Rafiq)," the Deputy Commissioner (DC) of DMP-east Mahbubur Rahman told the BDNEWS over telephone.
"The DC of DMP-West Kohinoor Mia has been asked to investigate the allegation against the closed OC," he added.
BDNEWS court correspondent adds: The eight people, who were apprehended on charge of killing the collage student, were taken on a three-day remand for interrogation.
Kafrul police produced them before the Chief Metropolitan Magistratec ourt and sought 10-day remand. Metropolitan Magistrate Abdus Salam granted three-day remand for quizzing them.
The arrested are: Saiful Islam, Abdus Salam, Kamal Hossain, Zafar Ahmed, Sharif Uddin, Mujibur Rahman and Rubel, Mizan alias Ramzan.
Earlier on Wednesday, the DMP commissioner had said: If he (OC) is found guilty, the authorities would take stern departmental and legal action.
Son of Abdur Razzak, Kamrul Islam Momin, 22, of 155 Uttar Ibrahimpur was murdered by unidentified assailants allegedly over a land-related dispute with the OC.
Family members of deceased student alleged that the OC Rafiqul Islam hiring gunmen killed Kamrul over the dispute.
The closed OC, however, could not be contacted for his comment.
