Cyclonic storm Roanu has weakened to a low causing heavy rains after crossing Chittagong coast in Bangladesh.

# At least 24 people have died in the storm.
# The cyclone crossed the coast around 5pm on Saturday several hours after landfall.
# Chittagong, Mongla, Payra and Cox’s Bazar ports, and nearby districts have been advised to lower danger signals to local cautionary signal number three from danger signal number seven and six.
# Squally weather may continue over the North Bay, coastal areas of Bangladesh and the maritime ports for two more days under the influence of the storm.
# The Mongla and Chittagong docks have been closed due to bad weather. Flight operations have been halted at Chittagong airport. These ports will reopen on Sunday.
# Sunday’s HSC and equivalent examinations have been deferred to May 27.
# The storm surge has inundated a number of areas breaching dams.
# Inland water authority has lifted suspension on operation of large vessels. Suspension of all other boats and steamers continues.
# Ansar and VDP, Cyclone Preparedness Programme committees, Red Crescent Society and other agencies are working in tandem at the Upazila and Union levels.
# All personnel of disaster response teams have been asked to remain present at their designated offices to distribute relief material if needed.
# Incessant rains may cause landslide in the hilly regions of Chittagong and Sylhet.
# Authorities in 14 districts shifted about 500,000 people to safer shelters. The people have started to return home.
