Language Movement veteran and SUST founding VC Sadruddin Ahmed dies

Language Movement veteran Sadruddin Ahmed Chowdhury, the founding vice-chancellor of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, has died. He was 86.

The physicist breathed his last at a hospital in Dhaka on Saturday afternoon, his daughter Professor Nazia Chowdhury said.

He had been suffering from old-age complications.

SUST was known as a university that suffered no session logjam when Sadruddin was the VC in the 90s.

Born in Sylhet on Jan 1, 1931, he passed intermediate examination from MC College in the district in 1951 and got admission to Dhaka University’s physics department.
