Dhaka, June 4 (BDNEWS) – Mijanur Rahman Shaon, a Majlish-e- Shura member of JMB Sunday unfolded the killing attempt of the renowned litterateur Humayun Azad to Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate.
"We had orchestrated the design of execution, as Humayun Azad wrote something in his Pak Sar Jamin Sad Bad denouncing Prophet Muhammad (SM)", Mijan, a member of the top policy making body and Comilla chief of the banned Islamist outfit Jamaatul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) told Shafique Anwar, Dhaka Metropolitan magistrate in a confessional statement.
JMB supremo Shaekh Abdur Rahman directed him, and Ataur Rahman Sunny sketched the plan, Mijan added.
According to his confession, Mijan started his career as a teacher of a women's madrassah in 1999 after he had passed B.Sc but left the profession in 2001 and began residing in a mess at Jhilpar of Sabujbagh.
The mode of Mijan's life began to change from this time. He became acquainted with the Jehadi books and 'Jehadi Gurus"-Shaekh Abdur Rahman, Siddiqul Islam alias Bangla Bhai, Ataur Rahman Sunny, Abdul Awal, Shamim, Shahid and others.
In 2004, Mijan came to know about the book, and let the JMB kingpin about the section where Prophet Muhammad (SM) was condemned.
"Shaekh asked us to prepare for Jehad" Mijan said, and we started keeping vigilance on Humayun Azad.
"We learnt that, Humayun Azad, returns from the ' Book Fair' at eight pm" Mijan said, adding, 'with this information in hand Shamim, Ataur Rahman Sunny and I came to Bangla Academy book fair on February 27, 2004.
"Shamim and I were carrying knives and machetes in the gunny bag, and Sunny was carrying bombs".
"We swooped on Humayun Azad at 9 pm, and stabbed him indiscriminately and Sunny exploded bombs to create panic in the fair premises, thus we were able to evade the scene".
Meanwhile, Mijan in his statement claimed they killed Monir Hossain Sagar, writer of 'Nari Tumi Manush Chhile Kobe' in 2004 as it bore condemning comments.
"We carried bomb attacks in Narayanganj", Mijan blatantly confessed.
"I took charge of JMB's Comilla wing in 2005 and launched bomb attacks at Comilla Judge's court, press club and bus stand."
"Sunny supplied the explosives from Dhaka" Mijan said, "in the same year I got married and rented a house in Chittagong, police arrested me in April, 2005".
He was sent to jail after the confessional statement, court sources said.
