Deep depression weakens into land depression, cautionary signal No. 3 issued for 2 ports

The deep depression over the North Andaman Sea and adjoining areas has crossed the Myanmar coast and weakened into a land depression, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department.

However, as the sea remains rough under its influence, local cautionary signal No. 3 has been maintained at the maritime ports of Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar.

In its fourth special bulletin issued on Tuesday, the BMD said the deep depression crossed the Myanmar coast near Kyaikto and weakened.

At 6am, it was located over Myanmar and the adjoining east-central and northeastern Bay of Bengal. It may move further north-northwest and gradually weaken.

Under its influence, squally winds may sweep over the Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar seaports, the east-central and northeastern Bay of Bengal, and adjoining coastal areas of Bangladesh.

Therefore, the Chattogram and Cox’s Bazar seaports have been advised to keep local cautionary signal No. 3 hoisted.

Meanwhile, fishing boats and trawlers operating in the northeastern Bay of Bengal have been advised not to venture into the deep sea until further notice and to remain close to the coast and navigate with caution.
