Agitating students have torched at least 30 buses on the campus, the proctor says
Agitated students ran amok following the incident on Sunday, torching several vehicles.
Third-year Biotechnology student Towhidur Rahman Titu died around 12pm after he was caught between two buses for carrying students, said IU Proctor TM Lokman Hakim.
Following his death, IU students ransacked parts of the university and torched buses on the campus.
At least 40 vehicles were damaged in all during the incident, 30 of them being burnt, said the IU proctor.
The students also blocked the Kushtia-Jhenaidah Road. They also attacked the IU academic building.
"We are trying to contain the situation," said IU Police Station OC Enamul Haque.
