On Wednesday, the bench of Justice Md Shawkat Hossain and Md Nazrul Islam Talukder scrapped the petition by the retired top court judge to drop the charges leveled by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).
ACC counsel Khurshid Alam Khan told the media that the trial court indicted Justice Huq in November last year, when he moved the High Court to quash the case.
"The court said that it was the trial court's job to decide whether he had acquired wealth through illegal means," he said after the hearing.
The order paves the way for trial of the former caretaker government adviser to be tried for the charges, said Khan.
Justice Huq stands accused of acquiring wealth of Tk 18 million through illegal means and concealing information of assets worth Tk 9.7 million in his statement filed with the ACC.
