Hamid, Hasina lead felicitations of Tigers after Asia Cup win against Pakistan

President Md Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina have congratulated the Bangladesh national cricket team after their spectacular win against Pakistan in a high-octane Asia Cup match.

BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia, Finance Minister AMA Muhith, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal and Bangladesh Bank Governor Atiur Rahman, among others, also felicitated the Tigers on Wednesday after they won the game 5 wickets and sealed a spot in the tournament’s final.

 

Bangladesh will take on India in the final at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium on Sunday.

President Hamid, who is currently in London on a medical tour, congratulated the team, coaches and management in a statement, his Press Secretary Joy Md Joynal Abedin told bdnews24.com over telephone.

He said the president hoped the Tigers will continue this winning streak in the rest of the tournament.

The prime minister, an avid cricket fan, watched the match at the stadium on Wednesday.

An ecstatic Hasina was seen waving to the people at the gallery after Bangladesh won the game.

She also congratulated the team, coaches and the management in a message.
