The district Awami League office in Bogura has been attacked, vandalised, and set on fire, along with the offices of district JaSaD (Inu), Jatiya Party, and Jatiyo Sramik Jote.
Although the attacks, vandalism, and looting began at 7:30pm, neither the police nor the fire service arrived until 9:15pm.
Witnesses said around 7:30pm, the Awami League district office on Sherpur Road, Zero Point Seven in Bogra city, was the first to be attacked.
Following the arson, a group of people attacked, vandalised, and set fire to the district JaSaD (Inu) and Jatiya Sramik Jote offices in Satmatha.
Later, the Jatiya Party office on Kabi Nazrul Islam Road in the city was also vandalised and set ablaze.
At that time, several hundred people who had witnessed the fire and vandalism marched to Satmatha, the heart of the city, causing severe traffic congestion.
Slogans were heard at the scene: “Abu Sayeed Mugdho, shesh hoyni juddho”; “Delhi na Dhaka - Dhaka, Dhaka”; “Pinaki Dadar action - direct action”.
Additionally, slogans were chanted in the procession, labelling Sheikh Hasina as an agent of India and Hasanul Haq Inu as an agent of Hasina.
Many people were also seen looting various items from the offices of the Awami League, JaSaD, and the Jatiya Sramik Jote.
When Fire Service Senior Deputy Assistant Director Abdul Jalil was contacted on his mobile phone about the incident, he told bdnews24.com that he was unaware of the arson in the city.
Regarding taking action about the incidents, he responded with: “We'll see.”
Meanwhile, Bogura Sadar Police Station OC SM Moinuddin and District Police Superintendent Zedan Al Musa were unreachable.
