Two youths from Jamalpur’s Madarganj Upazila, who were “fighting” against Ukraine for the Russian army, have been killed in a drone strike, relatives say.

The dead are Maful alias Mofiz, 23, of Karaichara Union, and Arif Hossain, 27, of Sidhuli Union.

They had been missing for 17 days, with their relatives claiming to have learnt of the deaths on Monday morning from an audio message circulated on social media.

Madarganj Upazila administrator (UNO) Sumon Choudhury said he had heard about the disappearances of the duo who had gone abroad through a local broker group instead of the official channel.

The UNO said he would inform the higher authorities about the matter and promised advice and action if the families submitted a written application.
