The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has issued a new public notice banning meetings and gatherings in the areas surrounding the State Guest House Jamuna, the official residence of the chief advisor, and the Secretariat.
In a notice issued on Thursday, the DMP said the ban will be in effect from Saturday until further notice.
The notice said, “All forms of meetings, rallies, mass gatherings, processions, human chains, sit-ins, and similar activities are prohibited at the Bangladesh Secretariat (including adjacent areas) and Jamuna, the official residence of the chief advisor, as well as the surrounding areas between the Hotel InterContinental crossing, Kakrail Mosque crossing, Officers’ Club crossing and Mintu Road crossing.”
This is the seventh time the DMP has announced prohibition on rallies at the locations.
The notice had no mention of the chief justice’s official residence Justice Bhaban, or the Judges’ Complex.
