Md Muhibul Haque, former senior secretary at the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Tourism, and Abed Ali Jibon, a former chauffeur to the Public Service Commission chairman infamously involved in a question paper leak scam, have been shown arrested in a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission, or ACC.
Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Jakir Hossain Galib issued the order on Monday following a petition by the ACC.
The court granted the appeal to show them arrested in the ACC case on Monday, ACC Assistant Director Aminul Islam told bdnews24.com. It also ordered the suspects to be sent to jail after being arrested.
Earlier on Jan 28, a petition was filed to show Muhibul and Abed Ali arrested in a case. In that context, the court issued a production arrest warrant and scheduled Feb 3 for a hearing in presence of the suspects.
ACC Assistant Director SM Rashedul Hasan appealed to show Muhibul arrested while ACC Assistant Director Al Amin appealed to show Abed Ali arrested.
Muhibul has been jailed after being arrested in three cases filed with the Paltan, New Market and Dhanmondi police stations, the petition said. It was necessary to show him arrested in a case filed by the ACC.
On the other hand, the petition against Abed Ali said he was in jail after being arrested in a case filed with the Paltan Police Station and it was necessary to show him arrested in the ACC case.
Police arrested Muhibul at 11pm on Nov 20 from Mohakhali DOHS. Abed Ali was arrested on Jul 8.
