Dhaka, Nov 27 (bdnews24.com) – Former police chief Mudabbir Hossain Chowdhury and former district judge Saiful Alam were sworn in to the Election Commission as new commissioners Monday.
The commissioners drove to the EC to meet acting Chief Election Commissioner Mahfuzur Rahman. Commissioners Mahmud Hassan Mansur and SM Zakaria also attended the meeting.
"It's too early to say anything," Mudabbir said after the swearing-in ceremony. "What I can say is, I will work with all sincerity and honesty."
Chief Justice Syed JR Modassir Hosain administered oath to the new commissioners.
Saiful Alam said, "It's not time to comment." Alam worked for the Anticorruption Commission as director before he retired a month ago.
Mudabbir had worked as the inspector general of police since November 5, 2001 before he was removed from the hot seat on April 22, 2003.
Mudabbir joined the police from army on April 1, 1973 as assistant police super and was absorbed in the Public Service Commission cadre.
