At least four people have died and another suffered injuries in a head-on collision between a motorcycle and an auto-rickshaw in Brahmanbaria.
The accident occurred around 4:30pm on Sunday along the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway in Bijoynagar Upazila, said Khatihata Highway Police chief Jahangir Alam.
Police could not immediately provide the identities of the victims.
Locals said the auto-rickshaw carrying passengers was en route to Habiganj’s Madhabpur from Sarail Bishwaroad when it crashed with a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction toward Dhaka.

Another motorcycle later rammed into the auto-rickshaw from behind.
Three motorcyclists died on the spot. Two others were taken to the hospital, where one of them was pronounced dead.
“We recovered three bodies from the scene,” said Jahangir.
“Another body was reportedly taken away by the family, but we could not confirm the names or identities.”
Efforts are under way to identify the victims, he added.
