A judge has begun reading out the verdicts in three cases against 23 suspects, including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina, in a case over misusing government power to allocate plots in the Purbachal New Town Project in Dhaka.

The first verdict is in a case against Hasina and 11 others.

Dhaka Special Judge Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun began reading out the verdict at 11:23am on Thursday.

Mohammad Khurshid Alam, a former member (estate and land) of the capital development authority RAJUK, is the only suspect currently in custody. He has been brought to court to hear the verdicts. The other suspects are absconding.
