District judge suspended over Bangladesh chief justice insult

Dhaka Additional District and Sessions Judge Md Jewel Rana has been suspended by the Ministry of Justice.

On Thursday, a notification signed by law and justice ministry Secretary Abu Saleh Sheikh Mohammed Jahirul Hoque confirmed Rana's temporary suspension on grounds of misdemeanour against Chief Justice SK Sinha.

 

The charges include misbehaving and undermining the authority of the senior judge.

 

The accused has been placed on suspension owing to the seriousness of the charges, it said.
