Dhaka education board’s website hacked to ‘protest’ against teenager Rajan’s killing

Dhaka education board’s website has been hacked apparently to ‘protest’ against last week’s killing of 13-year-old Samiul Alam Rajan in Sylhet.

The hackers, going by the names of ‘Code X Hunter’ and ‘Dark Soul’, put up two masked faces in place of the education board’s regular homepage with the message ‘wake up people’.

Rajan was clubbed to death at Sylhet’s Kumargaon on July 8. The assaulters filmed the entire torture and the video was circulated on the internet.

The hacking on Monday came as the whole country erupted in protest against the killing.

A male voice spoke in Bangla in the background of the hacked site, justifying their action.

Claiming themselves as Bangladeshis, the hackers also referred to the ‘inhuman’ sexual harassment of a number of women during Bangla New Year festivities at the Dhaka University.

They took a swipe at the law enforcers saying, “It’s no use talking of police, since to them everything is…”

“Look at the latest news, a boy named Rajan was killed. Do you know why, because he was thought to be a thief.

“Only suspicion... We do not understand how did dogs multiply so much in number? 

They also slated those not protesting against such incidents. They wrote on the site: “We have something to say... enough is enough, we have tolerated enough... you have forgotten what is law, what is freedom of speech.

“You have forgotten what religion is. If you think we are joking, then you are wrong. On behalf of the people of Bangladesh, stay well. Eid Mubarak.”

Dhaka board Chairman Abu Bakar Siddique told bdnews24.com he had ordered the restoration of the website.

However, the site was under the control of the hackers until evening.
