Dhaka, May 20 (BDNEWS) – Hundreds of people on Saturday staged a demonstration in Sutrapur as part of the continuous agitation demanding immediate arrests and trial for the mysterious death of a schoolboy at Sutrapur on Thursday.
Three persons -- Alamgir Hossain, his wife Taslima and brother Firoj – who were arrested in connection with the murder were produced before the court seeking their remand for seven days.
Besides, the police department suspended two sub-inspectors (SI) of Sutrapur police station on charge of negligence in their duty.
The suspended policemen are SI Abdullah of Sutrapur police station and duty officer Anguri Akhter Seema.
Mahbubur Rahman, Deputy Commissioner (DC-East) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), told BDNEWS the concerned authority suspended the policemen following agitation of the local people demanding the trial of the killers.
According to eye-witnesses, during the demonstration, hundreds of people, including women and children, took to the streets and chanted slogans against the police and the killers.
They also formed a human chain in front of Nababpur Government High School of which Zisan was a student.
They put up road blockade that halted the transport movement for hours in the old town.
Earlier on Friday, hundreds of local people laid siege to the police station for six hours in protest against inaction of the law enforcers following the murder of the schoolboy, Zisan Ahmed, 11.
Zisan Ahmed, son of motor mechanic Mohammad Anwar Hossain of 105/2 of BCC Road under Sutrapur thana, at first were reported missing since 8am Thursday.
Meanwhile, police recovered the body of the boy at about 10am from the second floor of an under-construction building near the residence of the deceased boy.
Police also sent the body to Mitford hospital without informing the father of the boy, sources said.
Later, the family members of the deceased came to know that the police had recovered Zisan's body and sent it to Mitford hospital for autopsy.
After recovery of the body, the family members of the ill-fated boy went to police station to file a murder case accusing the owners of the building from where the body was recovered.
The teachers of Nababpur Government High School were shocked at the murder of Zisan, their student.
They demanded exemplary punishment of the killers.
