The Titas Gas Transmission and Distribution Company has announced an 11-hour suspension of gas supply in parts of eastern Dhaka on Monday due to pipeline relocation work.
According to the announcement issued on Sunday, the suspension will be in effect in the Demra and Shonir Akhra region from 8am to 7pm.
The statement said the pause in supply is necessary to facilitate the relocation of existing pipelines in nine canals under the Dhaka section of the DND canal excavation project, which spans both the Dhaka and Narayanganj districts.
The affected areas include Tengra, Bahir Tengra, Hajinagar, Amtala, Borobhanga, Kodal Doa, Sanarpar, Nimaikashari, Nama Shyampur, Zia Sarani, Japani Bazar, Titas Gas Road, Chapra Mosque, Ruposhi Bangla Hospital, Shonir Akhra, RS Tower area, Gobindapur, Matuail, Mridhabari, Kazla, Bhanga Bridge, Demra Staff Quarters, Amulia, Paity, Zahir Steel, Shahriar Steel, Dharmik Para, and Council area.
The gas supply will be suspended for all types of consumers, the statement read.
