The authorities failed to publish the results on Saturday after delaying twice before.

The announcement of the college admission results for 2015-16 education year was first scheduled for Thursday 11:30pm.

Many aspirants tried overnight several times but could not get the results on the website www.xiclassadmission.gov.bd.

The government later said the results will be published on 11:30pm on Friday, but did not.

Dhaka education board college inspector Ashfaqus Salehin told bdnews24.com on Saturday noon that the results would be available on Sunday morning.

He said earlier on Saturday that the results would be published at 8am.

The results, however, were not available until 10am.

Many aspirants called up bdnews24.com and complained.

A message posted on the website said that the process to publish the results was underway and new schedule of the results would be announced ‘soon’.

Dhaka board’s Salehin also refuted the claim in several news reports that the website was hacked, leading to the delay.

The government had said Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) was providing technical help to process the results.

Board officials said the problem was with BUET.

Salehin said BUET’s computer science department teacher Dr M Kaykobad was called to resolve the problem.

“He said the programme was not running, but it was not a big problem.

He said the problem would be solved within tonight (Saturday night). We hope the results could be announced tomorrow (Sunday) morning,” the board official said.

He also said they were considering extending the time for admission by a day, as the results have been delayed.

Dr Kaykobad could not speak as he was ‘busy’.

Board officials said the problem occurred because of the large number of students and their choice of colleges.

For the last few years, college admissions have been based on results of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC).

Dhaka Board, in a statement said students in the first merit list would be able to get admission to colleges between June 27 and 30, without having to pay any late fee.

A second merit list will be published on July 2, based on the seats remaining in colleges after the first lot of admissions.

Students were given the chance to apply for admissions from June 6-21. Those who missed it will be allowed to apply from July 9-11. The results will be published on July 12.

In the results of the Secondary School Certificate and equivalent exams published on May 30, 87.4 percent of those who took the exams cleared it.

Along with them, students who passed the secondary exams in 2013 and 2014 will also be eligible to apply for college admission.

Classes will start from July 1 and the practicals will begin from Aug 1.

College admission results to be published a day later, ‘unavoidable circumstances’ cited
