Dhaka, Nov 29 (bdnews24.com) — A rights activist and former Awami League MP from reserved seat, Chitra Bhattacharya has passed away. She was 83.
She died on Monday in a hospital in Kolkata of old age complications.
She was the wife of late justice Debesh Bhattacharya and mother of Debapriya Bhattacharya, a former ambassador to Geneva, Switzerland.
Prime minister Sheikh Hasina, speaker Abdul Hamid and deputy speaker Shawkat Ali gave condolence messages.
Chitra Bhattacharya served as vice-president of Bangladesh Mahila Parishad.
