A stone-laden truck has lost control and overturned onto a house in Lohagara, Narail, killing an eighth-grade schoolgirl and injuring her younger sister.
According to Assistant Sub-Inspector Anisuzzaman of the Naldi Police Outpost, the accident occurred around 12:30am on Monday near Naldi Khalpar.
The deceased, Shamima Akter Setu, 14, was a student at Naldi BBS Secondary School.
Her younger sister, Mitu Khanam, 12, a sixth-grade student at the same school, was injured in the incident and has been admitted to hospital for treatment.
ASI Anisuzzaman said, "The truck, loaded with stones, was traveling through Naldi Khalpar when the driver lost control. As a result, the vehicle veered off the road and overturned onto a house on the left side of the road."
"The accident left Setu and her younger sister Mitu seriously injured. Local residents rescued them and took them to Narail Hospital, where the attending doctors declared Setu dead."
Police said the truck driver and his assistant fled the scene immediately after the accident, abandoning the vehicle. Legal action is being prepared in connection with the incident.
