Forty-seven vehicles and an equal number of drivers have been kept ready in front of the Ministry of Public Administration at the Secretariat for the new cabinet members.
The vehicles were brought from the government transport pool after 10:30am on Tuesday.
An official from the Department of Government Vehicles told bdnews24.com that authorities have not yet been informed how many vehicles will ultimately be sent.
“Yesterday (Monday), 37 were prepared, and today 10 more were sent to the Secretariat to make it 47,” the official said.
“No instructions have come from the cabinet yet. We have kept the same number of drivers ready. As per the instructions, cars for the new ministers will be sent to the parliament building.”
The oath-taking ceremony of the new BNP government led by Tarique Rahman will be held at the South Plaza of the parliament on Tuesday afternoon.
Earlier in the day, parliamentarians of the party, which won an absolute majority in the Feb 12 election, took oath.
Later, party chairman Tarique was elected leader of the parliament at a parliamentary committee meeting.
An official of the Ministry of Public Administration said that after receiving instructions requesting vehicles for the ministers, cars will be sent accordingly.
In the afternoon, 47 cars were seen lined up in front of the ministry at the Secretariat.
