Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus has sent his greetings to the Muslim devotees of Bangladesh on the occasion of Shab-e-Barat on Feb 14.
The Islamic Foundation has announced various programmes to mark the day as well.
Yunus said, "I extend my heartfelt congratulations to the Muslim community of Bangladesh and the world on the occasion of the holy Shab-e-Barat.”
"This auspicious night brings the infinite mercy and blessings of the almighty Allah, the lord of the universe, to mankind. On this night, Allah shows the unparalleled glory of granting forgiveness and fulfilling prayers."
The chief advisor said, "On this holy night, the infinite mercy and blessings of Allah shower down on us. On this glorious night, we can become close to the almighty Allah through worship and devotion. We can achieve His infinite mercy, blessings, salvation and forgiveness.”
He said, “I urge everyone to dedicate themselves to the work of human welfare and nation building, inspired by the greatness of the holy Shab-e-Barat.”
“Let us, by avoiding all kinds of injustice, lawlessness, violence and superstition, establish the spirit of Islam - the religion of peace - at all levels of personal, social and national life. May almighty Allah forgive and protect us all. Amen.”
On the occasion of Shab-e-Barat on Feb 14, various programmes - including sermons, prayer meetings, recitations of the Holy Quran, and Hamd Naat - have been organised at the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque by the Islamic Foundation.
At 6:35 pm on Shab-e-Barat, Religious Affairs Advisor AFM Khalid Hossain will deliver a sermon on the topic of “Laylatul Baraat” in the light of the Quran and Hadith, the Islamic Foundation said in a press release.
At 7:10 pm, Islamic Foundation Director General Abdus Salam Khan will deliver a sermon on the “Virtues and Significance of Laylatul Baraat”.
At 8:50 pm, Acting Principal of Tamirul Millat Kamil Madrasah Khalilur Rahman Madani will deliver a sermon on the same topic.
At 9:30 pm, Principal of Charmonai Ahsania Rashidiya Kamil Madrasah Syed Mohammad Mosaddek Billah Al Madani will discuss “Laylatul Baraat” in the light of the Quran and Hadith.
At 2:15 am, senior imam Hafez Maulana Mufti Mizanur Rahman of the Baitul Mukarram National Mosque will deliver a sermon on the importance and virtue of voluntary worship.
At 5:50 am, imam Hafez Maulana Mufti Muhibullahil Baki of the same mosque will deliver the final prayer.
CRACKERS, FIREWORKS BANNED DURING SHAB-E-BARAT
Police have banned the use of crackers and fireworks on the night of Shab-e-Barat.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sheikh Md Sazzad Ali said in a notice, “Shab-e-Barat will be celebrated on Friday night. The Dhaka Metropolitan Police have banned the purchase, sale, transport, and use of all kinds of crackers, fireworks, and explosive materials in the Dhaka metropolitan area from 6pm on Feb 14 to 6am on Feb 15."
DMP spokesperson Talebur Rahman sought everyone’s cooperation on the matter.
